Gurgaon
Gurgaon is a district head quarter in Haryana and the heart of a
major industrial area. It has developed into a large and flourishing town
because of its vicinity to New Delhi which is about 30 Kms from here.
Gurgaon also known as 'Guru Gram' or 'Guru Gaon' ( village of the spiritual
teacher) was named after Dronacharya, a character in the Epic Mahabharata.
It is said that Guru Dronacharya gave spiritual instructions to the Pandavas
and the Kauravas at this place. Till Independence it was industrially
backward, but now a large number of industries like Maruti, Atlas Cycles etc
have sprang up in this area. Also known as the Cyber City , Gurgaon houses
some of the most reputed off shoring and outsourcing businesses. Many
corporates, MNCs and reputed educational institutions and schools have also
made it their official hub. Real estate is booming here with new buildings
coming up at an astronomical pace.

Gurgaon is regarded as the mall city of India because of its large number of
malls and shopping complex. Shopping malls in Gurgaon are increasing very
hastily which gives a relaxed and delighted shopping experience. For
enthusiast shoppers, there is a long streak of shopping malls. DLF City
Center Mall located on Mehrauli-Gurgaon road is the first shopping malls in
the city. Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road (MG Road) also known as fashion street is
regarded as one of the longest street in Gurgaon which consists of several
malls, restaurants, cafes , bars etc. The famous malls in this street are
MGF Metropolitan , Sahara Mall , DLF City Centre Mall and DLF Grand Mall.
Apart from the malls, the city has several local sector markets which
consists of various varieties of clothing lineups, gift shops, handicrafts
to international fast foods.
Sahara Mall
Sahara Mall is one of the best malls in northern India, situated on the main
Mehrauli-Gurgaon road, established in March 2001. Spread over an area of
3.89 acres, the mall houses around 80 shops that comprises company owned
brand outlets and flagship stores promising complete range of products and
latest offerings. The major attractions are the Haldiram’s family
restaurant, Big Bazaar and Odyssey restaurant and Bar. PVR cinemas has been
recently added on its top floor. The mall is opened from 8.00 a.m to 12.00
a.m.
MGF Metropolitan
Metropolitan Mall situated in MG Road was the second mall to have opened in
Gurgaon or Delhi National Capital Region. Covering an area of 400,00 sq.ft.
it is the largest and most famous mall in the city. The mall houses more
than 150 stores and the leading brands among them are PVR Cinemas,
McDonald's, Nike, Om Book Shop, Shoppers Stop and Benetton. It is opened
from 9.00 a.m to 12.00 a.m.
DLF City Center Mall
Established in the year 2000, DLF City Center Mall on MG Road covering an
area of 260,000 is the first shopping mall of the National Capital Region
(NCR). The mall with more than 127 different stores on four different levels
consist of Lifestyle stores, Pharmacy, Pizza Hut, Ruby Tuesdays, Cineplex
and jewellers. The major attraction here are the DT Cinemas multiplex with 4
screens that feature both Hindi and English movies and the lifestyle stores
which has a variety of product lines for different age groups. Some of the
famous shops in this mall are United Colors of Benetton, Barista, Meena
Bazaar, Reebok, Adidas, Cotton World and Coco Palms. There are many
restaurants such as Moti Mahal, Filmi Masala and Kwality Express etc in this
mall. The mall has a two level basement and front parking facility and more
than 700 vehicles can park here at a time. The mall will be opened from
10.00 a.m to 11.00 p.m.
DLF Grand Mall
DLF Grand Mall, designed by the renowned architect Hafeez Contractor, is
located close to the junction of Mehrauli-Gurgaon and Faridabad-Gurgaon
Road. The mall offers centrally air-conditioned climate control, plenty of
service and freight lifts, easy entrance to multi-layered parking and fire
detection and protection system. It has a stunning glass frontage with 3
levels for stores and the major shops are Landmark Book Store, Magpie,
Raymonds shop, Noritake, X-Box etc. Opened from 10:00 am to 12:00 a.m, the
mall provided fully computerized parking facility.

DLF Mega Mall
DLF Mega Mall situated in Phase-1 of the DLF City in Gurgoan is the perfect
place for shopping. The mall covers an area about 290,000 square feet in 4
different levels.

multiplex and the 15,000 square feet food court, DT Diners. Fab India,

Located on Sushant Lok phase 1, Gold Souk Mall is the mall specially meant
for jewellery. Opened in 2002 with 1,80,000 square feet of lavish shopping
areas spread on 3 floors, the mall is the home to over 100 national and
international jewelry brands. Gold Souk offers a mind-blowing selection of
classy jewelry ranging from elegant earrings to ornate necklaces. The mall
is opened from 11.00 a.m to 9.00 p.m. There is a food court at the mall that
remains open till 11:00 p.m.
